After taking a few years off to spend time growing her family, the lithe star of “Buffy” and “Dangerous Liasons” will be returning to television in fall of 2011 with a new drama on the CW. Though her past roles have seen Sarah Michelle Gellar naked on screen, as an executive producer as well as star, it might be unlikely that the mother of a small child would be willing to disrobe on a show she’s creatively in charge of, but stranger things have been known to happen.

The show will be titled “Ringer” and portrays the life of a woman on the run (Gellar) who pretends to be her wealthy twin sister in order to survive. However, the show will be airing on the CW, which is a known hotbed of sex and showing skin, so that does improve the chances of seeing a scantily-clad former cheerleader running around on the small screen every week. Geller has stated that she wants to return to television after her success in films because of the ability to spend time closer to her family, and to be on a fairly regular schedule.
